White Stallion Ranch
Hidden away between Phoenix and Tucson on 3,000 acres of Sonoran Desert scenery, White Stallion Ranch is a working dude ranch that’s been owned by the True family for over 55 years. With more than 150 horses and 100 head of cattle, it blends memorable opportunities to experience genuine cowboy culture with the services and amenities of a well-run hotel.
The 43 rooms are dotted throughout the grounds and feature private patios with views of the cactus gardens, mountains or corrals. Many have private firepits and several can be joined to create deluxe family suites that can sleep up to eight. For even larger groups, there’s a Spanish-style Hacienda with four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The focus here though is not on the rooms but on the ranch activities. Ride through desert and mountain scenery that has brought Hollywood filmmakers here for more than 70 years. Enjoy hiking, rock climbing, shooting and archery. Explore the ranch on a fat-tyred e-bike. Brush up your knowledge of all things Western at the weekly exhibition rodeo. And enjoy nightly entertainment from campfire singing and line dancing to gazing at the stars with the resident astronomer and a Wild West show of whip cracking and gun spinning.
Meals range from cooked-to-order breakfasts and outdoor evening BBQs to specialist rides serving ‘wine and cheese’ or even ‘beer and Cheetos’. The spa, pool and hot tub are perfect for soothing muscles after long days in the saddle, while additional facilities include a tennis court, a fitness centre and a petting zoo home to a range of rescued animals.
