The Eliza Jane – The Unbound Collection by Hyatt
Part of Hyatt’s millennial-focused Unbound Collection, this boutique Art Deco hotel has a great location in the Central Business District of New Orleans, just two and a half blocks from the historic French Quarter.
The building was once a print factory for the city’s famed Daily Picayune newspaper, established by America’s first female publisher, Eliza Jane Nicholson, and there are plenty of nods to the building’s past life, including a stylish lobby lounge known as The Press Room.
Rooms mix mid-century furniture with cool artwork, brass fittings and architectural flourishes like exposed brick walls and arched windows stretching nearly from floor to ceiling. The French restaurant, Couvant, is a destination in its own right, serving classics like steak frites and moules mariniere, while the courtyard, complete with arty water feature, is the perfect spot for an evening cocktail.
