The Boca Raton
Following an impressive $200 million face lift, The Boca Raton is approaching its centenary with a view to becoming Florida’s most luxurious hotel. Set around Lake Boca Raton in the upmarket Palm Beaches region of Florida, the historic resort is like a world unto itself – an effortlessly stylish enclave with a wide choice of accommodation, a championship golf course, a half-mile stretch of private beachfront and a country club atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era.
Accommodation is split between five distinct hotels that share the resort’s many amenities, including a private golden beach, a mouth-watering selection of 12 bars and restaurants, the pampering Spa Palmera, seven sparkling pools, and an array of activities from golf, tennis and watersports to ‘Extraordinary Experiences’ only available at The Boca Raton.
Of the five hotels, Cloister is where it all began. A south Florida icon since 1926, its exterior once again gleams as it did when originally designed by Addison Mizner, the legendary architect. Guestrooms and suites have either garden or golf course views and improved amenities include the brand-new dining options Sadelle’s and Palm Court.
The lakefront Yacht Club is more modern in feel and perhaps the most luxurious of the five – an adults-only, all-suite hotel where butler service comes as standard. Its 112 suites feature private balconies with views of the lake and the Atlantic beyond, and its fine-dining restaurant Flybridge is exclusive to Yacht Club guests.
Also offering butler service is the soon-to-reopen Tower, whose 224 airy and modern suites offer incredible lake and ocean views. Guests looking to stay longer might prefer the Bungalows, whose two-bedroom, two-bathroom suites come with fully fitted kitchens and furnished terraces. While anyone itching to feel the sand between their toes should head straight for the Beach Club, an oceanfront escape offering everything from spacious guestrooms to three-bedroom suites with floor-to-ceiling windows. With three sea-facing pools, private beach cabanas, watersports onsite and new culinary offerings, it’s a hard act to top for a Florida beach holiday.
