Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel

For sublime views there aren’t many places in the world that can top Santorini. Throw in cave-like suites with good-size terraces and huge picture windows, a sumptuous spa and an infinity pool and bar, and you’ve an adults-only hideaway that’s hard to stay away from.

Fully renovated for 2024, the 36 suites and five villas of Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel, are carved into the cliffside on the edge of the caldera in the village of Oia. All have creamy, stone facades and stunning caldera views, with troglodyte-chic furnishings like coffee tables shaped like giant pebbles and bedheads and lamps made from pieces of driftwood. Some of the suites have jacuzzis and the villas all have pools, but for the best views pick the two-bedroom Holistic Villa, with its private infinity pool at the hotel’s highest point.

The cave-like spa has treatment rooms, a steam room and a balcony with rocking chairs to relax in post-massage. Elsewhere are two pools, including the main infinity pool, which is close to the bar so is great for sunset cocktails. To dine, try breakfast or lunch at the casual Captain’s Lounge, then for dinner smarten up and head to Lure or Charisma for open-air dining and Mediterranean menus.
