Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon
Sitting atop one of Lisbon’s seven hills, the landmark Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon provides striking views over Eduardo VII Park and the Tagus River, as well as easy access to popular city sites like the Calouste Gulbenkian art museum.
The hotel was built in 1959 to prove that Lisbon can do luxury as well as any other European capital, and the hotel’s interiors reveal a yearning to impress, with gilded furniture, huge flower displays, grand chandeliers and an excellent collection of contemporary Portuguese art.
All but a handful of the spacious guestrooms and luxurious suites have terraces with far-reaching views over Lisbon. The award-winning spa is one of the best in the city, fitness facilities include a 400-metre running track on the roof of the hotel, Michelin-starred chef Pedro Pena Bastos runs the fine-dining CURA restaurant, and activities include photographic tours of Lisbon in a vintage motorcycle sidecar.
