Fairmont Palliser
It may have been welcoming the great and the good for over a century but this Grande Dame of Calgary’s hotel scene remains as good as it’s always been. You can feel the history from the moment you enter the marble, chandelier-lit lobby, yet the rooms and suites have been continuously renovated and remodelled, leaving modern-day travellers with a tasteful blend of contemporary and classic.
The same can be said of the beautiful Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar. The décor may be a throwback to a bygone age of elegance – complete with gold-tipped marble columns, cosy leather banquettes and the original fireplace from 1914 – but the cuisine is as contemporary as it gets, with plant-based menus as well as dishes focusing on ingredients grown and raised by Alberta’s farmers and ranchers.
Other standout facilities include a day spa and health club complete with treatment rooms, hot tub and indoor heated pool, plus complimentary bikes for getting out to explore the city.
