Fairmont Chateau Laurier
Since opening in 1912, Fairmont Chateau Laurrier has dominated the Ottawa skyline. Named after Canada’s seventh Prime Minister, this stately property is located just steps from the Rideau Canal and only a few minutes’ walk from Canada’s parliament buildings.
Behind the castle-like façade, the hotel’s public spaces resound with old-world grandeur, complete with turn-of-the-century furnishings, hand-painted ceilings, marble flooring and ornate plasterwork. And if the portrait of Winston Churchill hanging in the lounge looks familiar, it’s because it’s the one used on the British £5 note.
Rooms are similarly traditional but with the comforts you’d expect from a modern hotel. Fairmont Gold rooms are especially indulgent and come with extra amenities like complimentary breakfast, evening canapes and exclusive access to the Fairmont Gold Lounge.
Enjoy spectacular views of Parliament Hill while sampling local flavours at Wilfrid’s Restaurant, tuck into light bites and cocktails at Zoe’s bar, or dine alfresco at La Terrasse before views of the rolling Gatineau Hills and the Ottawa River. Take a dip in the Art Deco pool, make use of the Health Club, or call on the concierge to help you explore Ottawa’s many sights and attractions.
