Ceylon Tea Trails
Set amid Sri Lanka’s verdant tea country, the country's first Relais & Châteaux property offers a unique collection of lovingly restored colonial-era bungalows, along with polished butler service, gourmet cuisine and sweeping lake and tea estate views.
Five historic tea-planters’ bungalows, all between 4 and 15 kilometres apart, lie scattered across 2,000 hectares of neatly-clipped tea gardens. Each bungalow is divided into five or six luxurious rooms and suites that can be booked individually, though larger groups can, of course, book a bungalow in its entirety. All bungalows are steeped in history and heritage, complete with period furnishings, four-poster beds, roll-top baths and breezy verandas.
Tours of the tea estate are readily available, as are all manner of optional activities, including tennis, croquet, spa treatments, mountain biking, scenic hikes and white-water rafting. Many guests, however, choose to simply sit back and admire the views, taking full advantage of the excellent butler service.
