Borgo Pignano Tuscany
Deep in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, this gorgeous 750-acre estate includes a magnificent 18th-century villa, a Green Michelin Star restaurant and a breathtaking infinity pool built into the original quarry stone.
The bulk of the accommodation is in the main hilltop villa, whose 14 rooms and suites come with en-suite marble and travertine bathrooms and boast stunning views across olive groves, vineyards, fields and woods; some even come with original Renaissance frescoes. Across the courtyard from the villa, a 13th-century priest’s house can be booked as one large three-bedroom house or divided into two separate suites, with more secluded accommodation offered in the estate’s marionettes, villas and Tuscan country cottages.
Nearly three quarters of the food served is produced or reared on the estate and the rest is sourced locally, an ethos that brought the gourmet Villa Pignano restaurant a Michelin Green Star in 2023. During summer, the traditional Al Fresco Restaurant offers a more casual setting but the food is just as good.
When not wining and dining, guests are invited to relax at the spa or explore the estate’s organic farm, biodynamic kitchen gardens, olive groves, vineyard, lakes, waterfalls and woodlands. Activities range from art classes to yoga and horse riding. The medieval towns of Volterra and San Gimignano are less than 30 minutes away. Siena, Florence, Arezzo and Pisa are also within driving distance, as are the wine-growing regions of Montepulciano, Montalcino and Chianti.
