Anantara Quy Nhon Villas
Located on one of the most serene stretches of Vietnam’s central coast, this beachfront resort dazzles with its all-villa accommodation, superb service, mouth-watering food and incredible selection of excursions and activities.
There are still places in Asia worth talking about in hushed voices, lest word gets out and the crowds arrive, and this is certainly one of them. It’s clear during the private transfer from Quy Nhon that the region remains untarnished by tourism. Twelfth-century stupas from the Cham Empire – the chief rival to Cambodia’s Khmer Empire – peep out from rainforest-covered headlands, and fishermen in coracle boats cast nets in turquoise bays.
Accommodation comprises wonderfully private one- and two-bedroom villas, either right on the beach or set into the hillside with panoramic ocean views. All boast floor-to-ceiling windows (especially welcome at sunrise), open-air showers and sun decks with private pools.
The breathtaking main pool is raised above the sand overlooking the ocean. The jungle spa is truly world class, offering everything from four-hand massages to sound and crystal healing. And the Sea Fire Salt restaurant is renowned for its seafood, much of it roasted on raw salt blocks to help bring out the flavour. But it’s the array of tailored activities and excursions that help set the place apart, including guided tours of the Cham ruins, snorkelling trips, market visits, cooking lessons, and martial arts classes with the hotel’s Head of Security.
The Anantara Quy Nhon Villas can be reached from Danang to the north or Nha Trang to the south by the Vietage train. This luxury train journey is operated by Anantara and is a six hour journey from Danang, convenient for twinning Hoi An and Quy Nhon and travels through remote coastal and mountain scenery. With just 12 seats on board, meals and drinks included and even a head and shoulder massage, it is a service dedicated to guests at the resort with a distinctly Vietnamese style.
