  • Days 1-3

    Mexico City

Arrive in Mexico City and transfer to the Kimpton Virgilio, a boutique bolthole in the buzzy Polanco district, known for its restaurants, parks, shops and museums. Over the next two days your private guide and driver will help you explore the city, starting with the Zócalo, the main square, where the ruins of the Aztec capital Tenochtitlán rub shoulders with a wealth of colonial buildings. Other highlights include the Palace of Fine Arts, known for its Art Deco interior, and the Casa Azul (Blue House), the painter Frida Kahlo’s beloved home.

  • Days 4-6

    Yucatán Peninsula

Fly to Mérida and transfer to Chablé Yucatan, an enchanting jungle-clad resort with a renowned spa, superb restaurants and even its own cenote. The next day explore colonial Mérida with a local expert, uncovering its ornate streets and vibrant markets and sampling foodie favourites likes tacos, tortillas and delicious regional dishes.

Day six is left free to enjoy at your own pace. Either take advantage of the hotel’s facilities or perhaps arrange a visit to the ruins of Uxmal, thought by many to be the finest Mayan city ever built. Or head instead to Campeche, a UNESCO-listed city known for its walled historic district and streets of colourful houses.

  • Days 7-11

    Riviera Maya

Stop en route to the coast at easily the most famous of all the Mayan sites, magical Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After exploring the site you’ll be driven to a beautiful private cenote in the grounds of an old ranch, where you’ll have a chance to swim and enjoy lunch in the gardens.

End your tour with a four-night stay at Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, a stylish and sustainable boutique property perfectly positioned between thick, lush jungle and a serene white-sand beach. As hard as it is to leave the hotel, we highly recommend an excursion to Tulum, the only Mayan city to be built on the coast.

Transfer to Cancun airport on day 11 in time to catch your flight home.
