Uga Halloowella

Tucked high in Sri Lanka’s tea country, Uga Halloowella is a lovingly restored colonial bungalow overlooking the Castlereagh Reservoir—where heritage, luxury and serene beauty converge for an all-inclusive escape.

Perched 1,444 metres above sea level in the quiet hills of Hatton, Uga Halloowella is a refined sanctuary of old-world charm and modern indulgence. Originally built in 1880 and once home to Major Elton Lane of the British Royal Air Force, the estate has been meticulously restored by Uga in collaboration with celebrated architect Channa Daswatte.

With just six exquisite suites, it offers an exclusive and deeply personal experience. Guests can savour inspired Sri Lankan and international cuisine, with signature lawn dining and wine-paired degustation evenings adding theatre to every meal. The all-inclusive experience includes a tea factory tour, curated tastings and a traditional afternoon tea.

Beyond its graceful colonial interiors and infinity pool, the estate offers guided hikes, kayaking on Castlereagh, cycling adventures and immersive cultural experiences (additional costs). The spa, set in a garden gazebo, promises serenity with sweeping views of the surrounding tea fields.
