Borgo Egnazia
Located near the seaside town of Savelletri, Borgo Egnazia is a magical recreation of a Puglian village, set between an ancient Roman settlement and the beautiful, championship golf course of San Domenico. This unique resort feels almost like a film set and blends authentic architecture with fabulous food, two private beaches and a comprehensive spa.
Every corner of the resort is steeped in Mediterranean style and culture, from the castle-like main building, La Corte, with its selection of intimate guestrooms, to the Borgo’s ‘Casette’ cottages and the magnificent ‘Le Case’ (villas), all tied together by pretty, narrow alleys dotted with secret gardens and bougainvillaea. The crisp white rooms are light and airy, yet still intimate and romantic with balconies or private terraces, while the quaint stone cottages are a great choice for families and come with courtyard gardens and kitchenettes. For added luxury, ‘Le Case’ feature a host of lavish extras, including lovely gardens, private pools, bicycles, a dedicated local adviser, and a housekeeper.
At the heart of the resort, in the fabulous La Corte, is the Michelin-starred restaurant, Due Camini, offering sumptuous fine dining by candlelight, while over in the Borgo, La Frasca, offers hearty Puglian fare in a relaxed atmosphere. For a family-style supper and a delicious wood-fired pizza, head to Mia Cucina, or opt for freshly caught fish at the beachside restaurant, Cala Masciola. Enjoy aperitifs and cocktails at Bar del Portico, or sip sundowners alfresco at Capanno or L’Angoletto.
As well as three pools, a gym, yoga studio and the fabulous Vair Spa, there are also fun kids’ and teens’ clubs, a cooking school, tennis academy, plus fortnightly festivals with live cooking, dancing, artisans and entertainers. As the resort so proudly states, there is nowhere else like it on the sun-drenched shores of Puglia.
