Sights of Ceylon

Be amazed by the diversity of this tour, treating you to an insight into just how much this small island has to offer. From the scenic landscapes of the hills and the rolling plains of the tea plantations, to the sweeping sands of the beach, here experiences are varied. Along the way you will discover the island’s heritage and history and get up close to native wildlife while on safari. The sheer diversity of things to see and do throughout this tour ensures that you leave the island with many lasting memories.

Day 1

London to Colombo

You will be met on arrival at Colombo Airport and transferred to Wallawwa in Negombo for an overnight stay. The remainder of the day is free to spend at your leisure.
Day 2

Negombo to Anuradhapura

Today you will be driven to Anuradhapura, for a 3 night stay at Uga Ulagalla.
Day 3

Anuradhapura

Begin the day with a visit to Mihintale. This mountain peak is believed to be the site where Buddhism was first introduced into Sri Lanka. Later in the day take a memorable tour of the ancient city of Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 4

Anuradhapura

After breakfast be driven to the spectacular 5th century Sigiriya Rock fortress, where you can take in amazing views at the top. From here you will be transferred to the ruined capital of Polonnaruwa, where magnificent Buddha statues carved out of sheer rock offer a snapshot of medieval Sri Lanka.
Day 5

Anuradhapura to Kandy

Today you will be collected from the hotel and driven to Kandy, for a tranquil 2 night stay at Ratwatte Walauwa set in lush surroundings. En route enjoy a visit to Dambulla Rock Temple, followed by a stop at Matale to explore a local spice garden.
Day 6

Kandy

Spend the day sightseeing with a tour of Kandy, visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic and catching a panoramic view of the town from Upper Lake Drive. In the evening experience a Kandyan dance performance with a spectacular fire-walking finale.
Day 7

Kandy to Hatton

This morning you will be transferred to Hatton, journeying through winding roads and scenic valleys and calling at the quaint old town Nuwara Eliya, before arriving at Ceylon Tea Trails for your 2 night stay.
Day 8

Hatton

Spend the day at leisure enjoying the cooler climate and milder temperatures of the hills. There is also the option of visiting a tea plantation and factory, or perhaps going canoeing in Castlereigh.
Day 9

Hatton to Yala

After breakfast travel to Yala, for a 2 night stay at Uga Chena Huts.
Day 10

Yala

Begin the day with a visit to the spiritual Kataragama, revered by believers of many different religions. Head out in the afternoon on a Jeep safari in Yala and if you are fortunate enough, witness leopards, sloth bears and elephants.
Day 11

Yala to Tangalle

Journey on to Tangalle and arrive at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, where you can enjoy a 4 night stay at this beachfront property.
Days 12 to 14

Tangalle

These days are free to spend at leisure, enjoying all that the resort has to offer or perhaps visiting Galle, to explore the 17th century Dutch Fort, Kanneliya or Sinharaja rainforests.
Day 15

Colombo to London

Today you will be transferred to Colombo Airport for your flight to London.
