Katikies Santorini
Perched on the cliff edge in Oia, Katikies Santorini was the first of the Katikies hotels on the island and remains the group’s flagship property to this day. Its whitewashed rooms tumble down the cliffside offering mesmerising views of Santorini’s sunken caldera and the sparkling sea beyond.
Even standard rooms boast private verandas, with higher categories offering very welcome touches like outdoor hot tubs, separate living rooms and loft bedrooms with picture windows overlooking the sea. Some even feature outdoor terrace dining rooms, and in the case of the Master Suite, an outdoor lounge to rival many a rooftop bar. Interiors are minimalist and white in traditional Greek style.
Once settled in the hotel there’s really very little reason to leave. The three communal infinity pools practically melt into the horizon and are surrounded by ample sun loungers. The Champagne Bar by Fleur de Miraval offers prestigious Provence cuvees and a menu of signature raw bites. Both the lower and upper deck lounges offer all-day dining with a refined casual vibe, while fine-dining à la carte and degustation menus are on offer at Botrini’s, the Cycladic alter-ego of Ettore Botrini’s Michelin-star restaurant in Athens. Should you absolutely insist on leaving your island perch then wine tastings, island tours and luxury yacht charters can all easily be arranged.
